Target and the UNITED THROUGH READING®Military Program

The UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program
benefits from partnership with Target

Target is a major sponsor of our the UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program. Their investment will allow us to offer the UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program to all military branches in the armed forces. Their support includes a financial contribution to underwrite much of this expansion, but their contribution goes farther than the donated dollar. Target launched a national advertising campaign to raise awareness among military families about the availability of the program. They are also promoting the UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program through the media, special events, and cause marketing opportunities on a national scale.

Because of the support from Target, and many other contributing partners, the UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program continues to expand to meet the demand from all of our nation's deploying troops.

Target hosted a party at the San Diego Aerospace Museum in January 2006 to announce their partnership with United Through Reading, a relationship that will help bring the UNITED THROUGH READING Military Program to all branches of the armed forces. Hundreds of military families and program supporters joined in the celebration.

This young guest wore his best jacket to the event - the one that shows all of the places that his deployed parent has been. More than one million American children have an active duty military parent.

Gloria Estefan was a featured guest at the event. She is a world-renowned singer, a children's book author, and daughter of an American soldier in the Vietnam War. Each young guest received an autographed copy of Gloria's book, The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog.

Gloria Estefan reads her book to the young guests.

Target knows what children love! Young guests enjoyed kid-sized hamburgers, milkshakes, rice crispy treats, and face painting.
