United Through Reading Wins $5,000 Grant from Yelp Foundation Thanks to Your Votes!

January 28, 2016

YF_20160114_Badge-01 (1)We’re thrilled to announce that United Through Reading has received a $5,000 grant from the Yelp Foundation! Thank you for supporting us with your votes in the Yelp Foundation Gives Local grant contest, which allowed us to take the first place grant! Of many nonprofits considered for recognition, only three in the San Diego area were nominated to participate in the grant contest, which awarded $10,000 total to local nonprofits.

It’s an honor to have been nominated and to see such an outpouring of support. The Yelp Foundation’s mission is to address the needs of local communities including: access to information, education, local economic development, and freedom of expression. Thanks to this grant, United Through Reading will be able to further that mission locally by connecting our military families through the read-aloud experience and encouraging early literacy skills in military children.
