Today is Read for the Record Day!

October 27, 2016

Today’s the day to help break a world record – and what better way to do that than reading with your children, family, and friends?

It’s Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a national campaign intended to bring children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day, in places all around the world. The campaign was launched over ten years ago to bring awareness to educational inequality issues and help ensure that children from all backgrounds are prepared to start kindergarten.

This year’s book is The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach, has a surprise ending, but you’ll have to read the story yourself to find out what happens to this curious bear — and the sandwich!

Read along with Sergeant Major of the Army Daniel Dailey, and his wife Holly, who recorded their UTR video for Read for the Record from the pentagon!

United Through Reading is proud to take part in the Read for The Record campaign, which has grown over the last decade into a hugely successful, world-record-breaking international event:
