United Through Reading is proud to partner with BAE Systems to provide deployed servicemen and women with the opportunity to be video-recorded reading storybooks to their children at home. The company’s support of United Through Reading began in 2009 with major sponsorship of our annual Storybook Ball and continued with the significant and generous support of our program as well as the Storybook Ball and the Tribute to Military Families.

BAE Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Arlington, VA, and has four principal operating groups organized around a combination of the different products and services. BAE Systems is active in five key markets – Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US.

We are honored to be in business with BAE Systems, and we are humbled by their lasting commitment to our men and women in uniform.

Birdies for the Brave

A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.  Birdies for the Brave was originally created by TOUR player Phil Mickelson to support troops injured during combat.

Since 2005, Birdies for the Brave has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of Wounded Warriors and military families, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide.

United Through Reading became a Birdies for the Brave homefront charity in 2008 through the introduction of United Through Reading donor and PGA TOUR player Rory Sabbatini and his wife, Amy.  Since then, Birdies for the Brave has contributed more than $870,000 to support our Military Program.

Our partnership with Birdies for the Brave has provided United Through Reading not only with vital funding to support the furtherance of our mission, but also with unexpected and valuable opportunities to bring awareness about our work to communities around the nation.  We are grateful to be a part of a such a unique, successful effort.

Carter’s philanthropic mission, which is focused on creating lasting partnerships with child-focused organizations to “make children’s lives easier, so they can be free to do what they do best – be kids,” is a natural fit with the mission of United Through Reading. We are excited to be in business with Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh making bedtimes better and children’s lives easier.

The S. Mark Taper Foundation, founded in 1989, is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people’s lives by supporting nonprofit organizations and their work in our communities. As such, the foundation awarded United Through Reading with a $50,000 grant in 2017.  UTR is honored to be associated with the S. Mark Taper Foundation and grateful for their assistance and support in making UTR available to deployed military families from Southern California.

Reader’s Digest Foundation

Founding Sponsor of the 40 Million Stories campaign

The Reader’s Digest Foundation is dedicated to improving children’s literacy and educational success. With a passion for encouraging young readers, the Reader’s Digest Foundation committed $500,000 over two years as the Founding Sponsor of the 40 Million Stories campaign. Their support advances our mission to help military members instill a love of reading in their children despite military separations like deployment. We are so grateful to have the support of the Reader’s Digest Foundation.

Everything changed for United Through Reading in 2005, when Target became our partner in bringing deployed parents home from around the world for a bedtime story.  Target saw, in United Through Reading, a unique opportunity to support a family and a young mind through the love of reading.  It is the company’s longstanding support of education, reading and the military that led to the support of United Through Reading reading locations around the world. Target has contributed more than $4.7 million and immeasurable time, talent and resources since our partnership began in 2005.  We are so grateful for their unwavering support.
