In 2023 United Through Reading celebrated Veterans Day with over 1,000 classrooms from preschool through high school seniors around the world with a virtual Story Time with a Service Member!

2024 was our third year hosting this initiative that brings military-affiliated and non-military-affiliated children closer to the people in our US Armed Forces.

"The students in my second-grade class truly enjoyed Storytime as a culminating activity for our Veterans Day Mini-Unit. Connecting with a true veteran/soldier was so much more authentic than me reading the same story to the class. It led to a great discussion and appreciation for our armed forces and veterans. The knowledge they gained during the Storytime and the discussion that followed truly helped them honor veterans by writing a thoughtful letter of thanks to family members who are veterans.
