Reaching More Families

September 11, 2017

Thanks to your support, United Through Reading has added 21 recording locations to our growing list this year. Those new locations are in 12 states and four different countries around the globe. Below are a few highlights; thank you again for helping us bring storytime home to the military children who need us the most.

– The USCGC Sequoia (WLB-215) is based out of Guam. The crew is separated from loved ones in order to deter illegal fishing of highly migratory fish stocks, such as tuna, and build relationships within the Pacific Islands.

– The 2017 115th Fighter Wing based out of Madison, WI, is using UTR to stay connected to their families while spending several months away to train under the direction of the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea.

–  VMM 364 (Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 364) is based out of Camp Pendleton, CA. They created a permanent UTR recording location so when they know they will be away providing utility helicopter support, close-in fire support, fire support coordination, or aerial reconnaissance for a long period of time, they can make pre-deployment recordings for their families.

– The 718th Engineer Company based out of Fort Benning, GA, made more than 75 UTR videos at two pre-deployment events this year, which their loved ones can then watch anytime they are missing them. (Pictured above.)
