October is for Record Breaking!

October 4, 2016

It’s October and at United Through Reading that means we’re gearing up for one of our favorite campaigns — Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®! The campaign seeks to mobilize millions of children and adults to take part in the world’s largest shared reading experience.

Join us again this year and help us break the world reading record for the most people reading the same book on the same day – October 27, 2016.

This year’s Read for the Record book is The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach, a sly classic tale that is sure to elicit laughs from military children and adults!jrftr-2016-the-bear-ate-your-sandwich_cover

This month, United Through Reading invites YOU to jump on board and help break the world record!

Volunteers
You can help us Read for the Record by planning a reading event and encouraging your Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines or Coasties to pick up the book and record a UTR video! Send your photos our way, or share your activity with us on Facebook!

Military Families
If you are a military spouse, get your kids ready to read this month! And, on October 27, the day to break the record, be ready to record them reading!  Share your pictures, videos  and stories with us by sending them to stories@utr.org. You can also register to read and help break the record with Jumpstart at readfortherecord.org.
