United Through Reading Partners With Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read and United Through Reading®, two nationally recognized nonprofit organizations that seek to strengthen families and promote early literacy, have formed an alliance to enhance and expand the services both provide to military families.
Reach Out and Read and United Through Reading independently developed successful initiatives to serve military families. This partnership will ensure that even more children and families serving in the U.S. military have access to the two highly-regarded programs.
This partnership will enable United Through Reading and Reach out and Read to connect military families during deployments by encouraging continued story time traditions and ongoing communication through reading. Prior to deployments, United Through Reading will provide the families it serves with Reach Out and Read’s literacy materials and resources that emphasize the importance of reading aloud to young children every day and reading tips specifically designed by pediatricians and early childhood educators for parents. Reach Out and Read will help ensure that the 90,000 military families it serves are aware of the United Through Reading Military Program and how their Servicemembers can access the program during deployments.
