Sponsors

United Through Reading is extremely grateful for the generous support of the following corporate sponsors.

Target

Everything changed for United Through Reading in 2005, when Target became our partner in bringing deployed parents home from around the world for a bedtime story.  Target saw, in United Through Reading, a unique opportunity to support a family and a young mind through the love of reading.  It is the company’s longstanding support of education, reading and the military that led to the support of United Through Reading reading locations around the world.

Target has been with United Through Reading every step of the way, providing Target Starter Kits full of the best children’s books, DVDs and mailers to the commands we work with, contributing vital funding for new initiatives and program growth, and becoming an active partner in our pursuit of technology solutions that will help ensure we can serve service members wherever they are in the world.

We are honored to have Target’s Vice President of Technology Services, Jeff Mader, as an active and vital member of our Board of Trustees.  With Jeff’s focused leadership, United Through Reading’s Technology Committee is now comprised of the very best in the technology industry making us ready to continue serving deployed military service members around the world and Wounded Warriors recovering in military medical facilities stateside with new online program delivery.

Target has contributed nearly $2 million and immeasurable time, talent and resources since our partnership began in 2005.  We are so grateful for their unwavering support.

BAE Systems

United Through Reading is proud to partner with BAE Systems to provide deployed servicemen and women with the opportunity to be recorded on DVD reading storybooks to their children at home. The company’s support of United Through Reading began in 2009 with major sponsorship of our annual Storybook Ball and continued with significant and generous support of our Military Program as well as the Storybook Ball and the Tribute to Military Families.  Since 2009, BAE Systems has contributed over $850,000 to our efforts.

BAE Systems’ commitment to United Through Reading grew even more remarkable with the addition of Douglas Stewart, BAE Systems’ VP, Government Relations, to our Board of Trustees.  Since joining the board, Doug has taken the helm of the organization’s Development and Communications Committee leading the organization’s fundraising and marketing strategy.  Based in Washington DC, Doug has become an invaluable asset to our presence on the East Coast.

BAE Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Arlington, VA, and has four principal operating groups organized around a combination of the different products and services. BAE Systems is active in five key markets – Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US.

We are honored to be in business with BAE Systems, and we are humbled by their lasting commitment to our men and women in uniform.

A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.  Birdies for the Brave was originally created by TOUR player Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, to support troops injured during combat.

Since 2005, Birdies for the Brave has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of Wounded Warriors and military families, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide.

United Through Reading became a Birdies for the Brave homefront charity in 2008 through the introduction of United Through Reading donor and PGA TOUR player Rory Sabbatini and his wife, Amy.  Since then, Birdies for the Brave has contributed nearly $150,000 to support our Military Program.

Our partnership with Birdies for the Brave has provided United Through Reading not only with vital funding to support the furtherance of our mission, but also with unexpected and valuable opportunities to bring awareness about our work to communities around the nation.  We are grateful to be a part of a such a unique, successful effort.
