Victoria Cameron-Lewis

Development Associate 

Victoria provides database management support and is the staff lead for United Through Reading's signature event, the Storybook Ball.  She has a BA in Political Science from the University of Hawaii and is currently working toward her Masters in Public Administration.  As a Navy spouse of 13 years, Victoria has worked extensively in support of the military community, to include family readiness, event planning, fundraising and education outreach.

Suzan Caughlan

National Program Manager (Marines)

Suzan trains and supports U. S. Marine Corps Commands in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Marine Expeditionary Forces and 4th Marine Division.  After earning a BA from University of West Florida, she became credentialed in special education and devoted 10 years to her career as a special education teacher.  As a military spouse, she worked with Marine Corps families for more than 30 years as a volunteer for family support and networking groups.

Kara Dallman

Business Development/Metro DC
Kara manages United Through Reading’s collaboration with USO World Headquarters and initiatives for web-based delivery of the Military Program.  Recently retired as a U.S. Navy Commander with 20 years on active duty and in the reserves, she earned a BA from The College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from San Diego State University.  Kara was mobilized after September 11th with the 31st Naval Construction Regiment in Port Hueneme, CA.

Linda Hopkins, MA

Program Manager, Grandparent Program
As the Program Manager of the Grandparent Program, Linda is responsible for the development, marketing and growth of the program. She has an extensive background in sales and marketing. After receiving her Master’s in Gerontology, she supervised an intergenerational adult daycare program and then served as Executive Director of an assisted living community before joining United Through Reading.

Adriana Kirkland

Executive Assistant / Office manager
Adriana provides invaluable customer service for our staff members, stakeholders, and visitors, using her skills and professionalism to make sure our office functions effectively. Adriana built her skills by serving as an administrative and executive assistant for business owners, presidents and CEO’s for more than 10 years.

Deborah Loeffler

Director, National Outreach
Deborah is a key spokesperson for United Through Reading within the military community and organizations that serve the military.  She builds high-level relationships, fosters collaborations, and recruits volunteers.  With knowledge gained from 9 years of helping to build our Military Program, Deborah is a strategist for expanding our newer programs as well.  A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Deborah is an educator and trainer who has worked extensively with Navy families throughout her husband’s career as a Surface Warfare Officer. She has been a leader within the Command and Flag spouse communities and received the prestigious Department of the Navy Superior Public Service Medal.  

Melissa Malloy

National Program Manager for the Army
Melissa trains and supports U.S. Army units, and works to increase awareness of our program throughout the Army. A graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration with emphasis in Business, she has worked for large corporations in management, marketing and sales. As an Army spouse of sixteen years, Melissa lived overseas while her husband was stationed in Brunssum, Netherlands. That four-year assignment allowed her to travel with her family throughout Europe.

Kate McDevitt

Assistant Director, Military Program 
Kate coordinates training and support for deployed Navy Commands, including Carrier Strike Groups, Naval Special Warfare, and aviation and submarine squadrons.  As well, she spearheads all marketing and communication efforts for the United Through Reading Military Program.   A graduate of Bucknell University with a BA in Sociology and emphasis in the nonprofit sector, she grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, as the daughter of a U.S. Navy Orthopedic Surgeon.   Before coming to United Through Reading, Kate planned premiere global events for current and former chief executives at Chief Executives Organization, headquartered in Washington, DC.

Gretchen Schnitzer

Grant Writer
As an indispensible member of the development team, Gretchen writes proposals for program funding and prepares reports to grant makers explaining the impact of their investments in uniting separated families. Gretchen has a background in marketing, business planning, customer care, teaching and writing. 

Tricia Schuler

National Program Manager (Volunteers)
Tricia recruits, trains, and supports a network of regional volunteers to ensure that deploying commands in all services and service organizations receive the information and briefs necessary to promote program availability.  A former member of the United States Air Force, Tricia brings hands-on knowledge of the military and is a proud recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal. She honed her customer service, volunteer coordination, and leadership training skills while working for a training and coaching company. 

Leilani Stone

Program Manager Transitions Program
As Program Manager of the Transitions Program, Leilani is responsible for workshops currently offered in 16 facilities, including six adult corrections facilities; two juvenile facilities; two consolidated Naval brigs; two conservation camps; one federal facility;  and two community programs. Leilani received her BA at San Diego State University in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on delinquency.  Her degree, coupled with her extensive volunteerism and personal experience, contribute to the continued growth and expansion of the Transitions Program.   

Lori Turley

Director, Military Program
Lori oversees the Military Program, coordinating the activities of five National Program Managers. A retired U.S. Navy Captain, Lori has a BA from Mary Washington College, a Master of Science degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. During her 24-year military career, she served as Commanding Officer of the Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar, and as Director of Community Support Programs for Navy Region Southwest.

Helen Westcott

Director, Communications
Helen coordinates and directs all internal communication efforts for the organization, including newsletter production, annual report and website. Previously she directed the communications department of a San Diego non-profit organization for 19 years.  Helen began her relationship with United Through Reading as a volunteer and then worked as program manager of the Transitions Program, before becoming Communications Director.

Kate Wheeler

Director, Development
Kate works closely with the Development Committee of our Board of Trustees to plan and direct resource development and fundraising to support our read-aloud programs.  Kate has 13 years of experience in the non-profit arena.  Before joining United through Reading, Kate served as Executive Director for a small community non-profit in Aspen, Colorado for four years and then worked as an independent consultant helping non-profit organizations meet their fundraising goals.

Gerilyn Yoder

National Program Manager (Navy)
Gerilyn trains and supports U.S. Navy commands, including Expeditionary Strike Groups and Seabee Commands. Recruited for the U.S. Navy’s nuclear power program, Gerilyn served on active duty for 7 years.  After completing her service, she trained to become a veterinary technician; however, based on a personal experience with United Through Reading during her husband’s recent deployment, Gerilyn was committed to joining the United Through Reading Military Team.

Sally Ann Zoll, Ed.D.

Chief Executive Officer
As the multifaceted leader of United Through Reading, Sally serves as the chief guardian and spokesperson for our vision and mission, builds and sustains relationships with stakeholders and partners, and leads our programs, finances, and internal team.  In her distinguished career, Sally's values for education are always evident. She has a doctorate in educational leadership and management, a master's degree in special education from the University of San Diego and a BA in elementary education from Purdue University. From her first position as an elementary school teacher to her present leadership role, Sally has integrated her knowledge of education and educational technology with her talents for building and leading organizations of all sizes in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
