Save the Date: #UTRtues!

Dear UTR friends,
Next week, on the heels of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday comes another lesser known holiday — Giving Tuesday! After you’ve poured out your gratitude, eaten until you’re stuffed, and shopped till you dropped, this day provides an opportunity to stop and think about giving back. At United Through Reading, we call it #UTRtues.
This year, we ask you to give back to our military families by making a contribution to United Through Reading.
It doesn’t have to be money, or even materials. (Though we would be very grateful for those donations, of course!) It can be your time, your energy, or your voice. These gifts are more powerful than you realize.
By participating in #UTRtues this year, you can help us provide the opportunity for a little girl to share bedtime stories with her dad who is stationed halfway across the word and isn’t expected home for another six months. You can make it possible for that father to give the special gift of a book and a bedtime story to his little girl, while he gives the gift of military service to us all.
Not sure how you can help with #UTRtues this year? We’ve got some ideas for you to take action on Giving Tuesday:
- Text the keyword “UTR” to 20222 and give $10 (charged on your next cell phone bill).
- Make a donation of any amount and post the image on the right on your Facebook page or Twitter account with a link to this blog post and spread the world about #UTRtues!
- Visit us online and make a donation to United Through Reading.
- Visit our website and see ways you can volunteer and help us to connect military families who are separated by deployment, training, or duty-assignments.
- Follow United Through Reading on Facebook and Twitter and keep in touch with us throughout the year to learn how you can continue to support.
